Questions people ask
How do I add VAT?
Multiply the net price by 1 plus the rate. At 20%, multiply by 1.2.
How do I remove VAT from a price?
Divide the gross price by 1 plus the rate, not take 20% off. At 20%, divide by 1.2. Taking 20% off gives the wrong answer because the tax was added to the smaller net price.
