Questions people ask

What is the 2026 TFSA limit?

$7,000. If you were 18 or older and resident in Canada in 2009 and have never contributed, your total room in 2026 is $109,000.

What happens when I withdraw?

Withdrawals are tax-free and the same amount is added back to your room on 1 January of the next year. Putting it back in the same year can cause an over-contribution.

TFSA or RRSP?

An RRSP gives a refund now and is taxed later; a TFSA gives nothing now and is never taxed. The RRSP wins if your tax rate in retirement will be lower than today, the TFSA if it will be the same or higher.
