Questions people ask
How does a balance transfer work?
A new card pays off your old one, and you owe the new card instead, at 0% for a set time. You usually pay a fee of 3% to 5% of the balance.
What happens when the 0% ends?
Whatever is left starts charging the card’s normal rate. Aim to clear it in the promo period; the hint shows the payment that does it.
Can it hurt my credit score?
A new application is a hard search, which dips your score a little for a while. Lower utilisation afterwards usually helps more.
